On 25-29 September 2023, the International Project Office for CORDEX hosted at the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI), the International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) and the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM) will co-organize the fifth International Conference for Regional Climate, ICRC-CORDEX 2023, www.icrc-cordex2023.org) in Trieste, Italy, and in Pune, India.
The WCRP global collaborative initiative “Coordinated Regional Climate Downscaling Experiment” (CORDEX) aims to develop and provide detailed, regional climate information necessary for vulnerability, impact and adaptation studies at local and regional levels. CORDEX results were prominent in the sixth assessment report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and the next generation of climate simulations for regions are ongoing.
CORDEX is working to meet the increasing need for reliable regional climate information communicated in a manner enabling effective impact and adaptation planning and this year’s conference has societal needs/Cordex interaction with society and CORDEX for impacts.
CORDEX domains cover almost all land areas plus the Arctic, the conference is thus a matter of global importance. Some of these regions face alarming consequences from climate change, which calls for urgent mitigation and adaptation measures.
The conference will be in hybrid format so as to keep the carbon footprint down as well as enabling for more participants to attend. It will offer presentations while the large focus will be discussions on how the regional climate science community, the WCRP Coordinated Regional Climate Downscaling Experiment (CORDEX) better can respond to societal and political needs and challenges and how we connect climate science with solutions. How do we provide/co-develop timely, relevant and actionable information and decision support systems. We will discuss modelling predictions of climate change and its impacts and applications emphasizing the dialogue with society. Among the topics are climate change in view of energy options, water security, agriculture and high impact regional phenomena.
The conference will also cover issues such as the benefits of downscaling with questions of biases and uncertainties, further development of regional Earth System Models, and will provide a platform for scientists and users from all parts of the globe to meet and advance capacity development, training and knowledge exchange as well as to build new and enhance existing co-operations.
We hope that your organization is interested in becoming engaged in this major event, as a contribution to your Corporate Social Responsibility efforts. We hereby invite you to become a sponsor of the ICRC-CORDEX 2023 conference. We encourage you to consider one of the five sponsorship packages detailed below. In case the proposed packages do not precisely fit the profile or image you would like to project, we will be more than glad to customize it.
Should you wish to make a contribution beyond the diamond category, additional recognition options
can be tailored to suit your organization’s specific goals. Logo placement and sponsor recognition are determined by the contribution level. Promotional options to sponsor specific workshops and welcome receptions, coffee breaks or similar could also be offered. The sponsor benefits are summarized in the table below.
